    Re-coating after Repair

Collision work disrupts ceramic or PPF. Same shop reinstalls the protection. No coordinating between vendors.
    Why This Matters

    Most shops
    will hand you off.
    We don't.

Body shops don't do premium finish work. Detail shops don't do body work. You usually end up in two places, paying twice, coordinating between two estimates.

Here, the same team handling your PPF can route you into structural repair, get the insurance paperwork moving, and have the car back in your hands with the paint corrected and the coating reapplied.

    One conversation, one timeline.

    WHY THIS SHOP

Five years sharp. Eleven years deep.

Total Detail has spent the last five years becoming the region's go-to for premium protection and finish work. Heritage Collision Experts — our partner shop — has been behind Pottstown-area vehicles for eleven. Between the two, your car leaves with the protection, the finish, and the structural work handled under one roof.

What to expect when your car gets hit.

Most people do this once every ten years. Open whatever part you have questions about.

    ● FIRST STEPS

What to do right after it happens

Most people go through this once a decade, so nobody's practiced at it. Here's the short version.

    • Photograph more than you think you need. All four corners of your car, the other vehicle, both plates, the whole scene, and the road. Photos cost nothing and settle arguments later.
    • Get the other driver's insurance details. Company and policy number, not just a phone number.
    • Get an estimate before you file, if the damage looks small. If the repair lands under your deductible, filing costs you more than it returns.
    • Pick your shop before the insurer picks one for you. You're allowed to choose. Deciding early keeps the car from being towed somewhere you didn't choose.

If you're not sure what you're looking at, call us and describe it. We'll tell you whether it's a claim or a Tuesday.

    ● THE REPAIR

What actually happens to your car

A collision repair is a sequence, and the parts that decide whether it looks right in three years are the parts you never see.

    • Teardown and a real estimate. The first estimate is written from what's visible. Panels come off and hidden damage shows up, which is why estimates get updated. That's normal and we'll tell you when it happens.
    • Structural work first. Anything bent gets pulled and measured back to spec before cosmetics. Skip this and every panel after it fits slightly wrong.
    • Body work and prep. Filling, shaping, sanding, and priming. This stage is most of the labor and all of the difference between a repair that disappears and one you can find in the sun.
    • Paint in a real booth. Filtered air, controlled temperature, controlled humidity. Color matched and blended into the neighboring panels so the repair doesn't end in a hard line.
    • Reassembly and calibration. Modern cars have cameras and radar behind the bumpers and glass. Move them and they need recalibrating or your safety systems read the road wrong.
    ● COLOR MATCH

Why matching paint is harder than it sounds

Your paint code gets us close. It doesn't get us matched, and any shop telling you the code is enough is telling you how they work.

    • Your car has been in the sun. A five-year-old finish is not the color it left the factory as. We're matching the car in front of us, not the number on the door jamb.
    • Factories vary within one code. The same color can come out slightly different depending on the plant and the batch.
    • Metallics and pearls change with the angle. The flake has to lay the same way it does on the panel beside it, and that's spray technique, not chemistry.
    • Blending is what hides the repair. Paint that stops hard at a panel edge shows. Fading it into the neighboring panels is what makes the work vanish.

So we spray a test card and check it against your actual panel before anything gets sprayed on the car.

    ● ONE ROOF

Why the body shop is behind all of this

Heritage Collision Experts has been repairing cars for 11 years. Heritage acquired Total Detail, a five-year detail shop with a strong review base, and the two now run under one roof with the same team and the same standards.

The useful part for you is the equipment. A collision shop has a certified paint booth with filtered air and controlled temperature and humidity. That's not standard equipment at a detail shop, and it's the reason we can install PeelClear when most shops in the area can't. It sprays like automotive clear coat, so it needs the environment clear coat needs.

It also means one place handles the whole range. A scuff on a bumper and a structural repair after a real accident get the same team, and you're not driving your car to a second shop to finish what the first one started.

    Frequently asked questions.

    How does my deductible work?

You pay your deductible to us when you pick the car up. We bill your insurer directly for the rest. No surprise bills at the counter.

Should I get an estimate before I call my insurance?

For small damage, yes. If the repair comes in under your deductible, paying out of pocket keeps the claim off your record and your premium where it is. For bigger damage, call us first and we'll look at it with you before you file. Once a claim is open you can't easily close it, so it's worth ten minutes up front.

Can I pick my own shop, or does insurance decide?

You pick. Insurers often suggest a shop from their network, and you're free to use one, but the choice is yours. Bring it here and we'll handle the estimate and the claim coordination the same way.

    Will you use factory parts?

We think a factory vehicle deserves factory parts, and we use them about 95 percent of the time. When a part isn't factory there's a specific reason for it, and you'll hear that reason from us before the repair is finished, not after.

Do you handle the rental car?

Yes. We work with Enterprise, Hertz, and Kulp, so once your drop-off date is set we can coordinate the rental from there. It's one less thing to chase while your car is apart.

How long will the repair take?

It depends on the damage and how fast parts arrive, and anyone who gives you a firm number before looking at the car is guessing. What we will do is give you a real estimate once we've seen it, and tell you when something changes instead of letting you wonder.

    Will the paint match?

That's the part people worry about most, and it's fair. Modern finishes take real skill to match, especially metallics and pearls. We work from your paint code, then spray out and check a test card against your actual panel before anything goes on the car, because the code is a starting point and sun fade is real.

Why does a body shop matter for detailing work?

Because a real paint booth changes what's possible. Heritage Collision Experts has been doing structural repair for 11 years and has the booth, the equipment, and the certifications that come with it. That's why we can install PeelClear when most detail shops can't, and it's why a scuff and a structural repair get handled under the same roof by the same team.
