Tesla Clear Bra Consultation Stage

Stephen exchanged emails and consulted with us prior to his Tesla delivery date at Tesla of Devon, PA. We wen’t back and fourth and decided that the Road Package was the best fit for Stephen based on his needs. Ceramic Pro Pottstown met Stephen at the dealer in Devon on the day of his delivery. We then transported his Deep Blue Tesla Model Y back to our shop.

Inspection Process

Upon inspecting the Y, we found unfinished denibbing in the paint and a few towel swipe scratches which are to be expected of any dealer delivery of any make and model. 

After putting the vehicle through our inspection process, which thoroughly documents the vehicle condition upon time of entry into our shop we began the vehicle prep, wash & decon process prior to applying our Ceramic Pro KAVACA Ceramic Coated Paint Protection Film.

Tesla Clear Bra Preparation Process

Prior to applying Tesla Paint Protection Film, our wash process begins with a thorough rinsing of the vehicle, a 2 bucket wash process, physical clay bar decontamination, and then iron remover and tar remover to ensure the vehicle is as clean as possible. Then we use our polymer enhanced drying aide and started our microfiber towel drying process and air drying to get all the water off of the Model Y.

We then machine polished the area we are applying the paint protection film to just to ensure that it looks it’s absolute best. It’s a step that isn’t required but it makes a difference in terms of both ensuring imperfections are removed and that the surface is as clean as possible.

Tesla Clear Bra Installation Process

Installing the KAVACA Ceramic Coated Paint Protection Film on the Model Y begins with a thorough physical cleaning right before application including all edges prepped with wax & grease remover. The paint protection film is either wet prepped on the backer or applied directly onto a clean surface and then our soap and water slip solution is sprayed under the film to ensure that it floats. This is extremely important to ensure that the film has the capabilities to be stretched and manipulated accordingly.

After we have the Tesla Clear Bra stretched into place, we will then begin our locking process, where we will use a hot water only or hot water and isopropyl alcohol mixture to flush the slip solution away. A common misconception is that the alcohol activates the adhesive on the PPF. The only purpose of what we call “flush” or “tack” is to remove slip solution. After all edges and corners are tacked into places we will squeegee the film clean and remove all slip solution revealing a brilliantly glossy and protected surface.
